Bidar Project

It all started in march 2016, when we were requested by Basava Theertha Vidyapeetha institution (which is located in the outskirts of bidar city, serving 1900+ tribal children) seeking help to build toilets for the school.

As soon as we received the letter of request, we decided to visit the school and our team left for Bidar on the same week.

  • We were very impressed by seeing the school working so hard to educate the local tribal children, majority of them girls.
  • We inspected the campus of the institution and realized that the institution was in desperate need of toilets and solar lights, for students staying in the hostels as well.
  • There were 6 existing toilet rooms without roof and the outlets of the toilets were not connected to any septic tank and it was left open. We had to cover our nose, while passing through the grounds. The worst was the waste flowing into the school playground. Students had to eat their lunch next to this open filthy sewer.
  • There are about 650-700 students staying in the hostel.
  • There was no safety for the girls to use the restrooms, because of lack of doors and roofs.

After analyzing everything, sewa team decided to put 30 toilets and install big solar plasma light which would cover the whole campus for safety at night especially for girl children.

At the school, we met great leaders who were dedicated to BTVP boarding school and making sure the tribal girl children get equal opportunity to study, in modern society.

We promised them that we will work with them and made a commitment of giving 30 free toilets and a solar plasma light to BTVP students.

We came to Bangalore and started to look for new vendors to fulfill our commitment. We found a new vendor called Harthy chemicals, who took the contract of building toilets in Varanasi and Bidar.

We faced a lot of issues and hurdles to fulfill our commitment as Harthy chemicals took over 150 days to install toilets at Bidar where they were supposed to finish in 45 days.

So, overcoming lot of challenges, we finally celebrated the day of victory on 30th of November, by completing the installation of 30 toilet units.

Our sewa team was honored by BTVP management for working hard to accomplish the task.
We also repaired the existing toilet blocks and provided new TIN sheet roofs over them.We connected the outlet of the existing toilet block to a septic tank.

And now it’s a grand success story and we are proud to say that we have built 30 toilet units in Basava Theertha Vidyapeeth School serving 1000+ girl children.

Thanks to our donors for giving a helping hand towards the betterment of the community.
